Many friends visited Kurt during his convalescence and there were always people around him who came to listen to his political ideas. There they met Christian, my grandfather. Sometimes he would take my grandmother riding on the motorcycle. Kurt liked that he took care of her.
My grandmother says proudly that during this time she worked and took care of her sick husband. Her boss was a Count who helped her many times to avoid having Kurt’s family taken away and then to get my grandfather out of jail. When the war was over the roles were reversed and it was my grandfather who saved the Count from being jailed.
